Today is dedicated entirely to the beautiful city of Essaouira. After the port of Agadir was closed, Essaouira was the most important port city in Morocco from around 1765. However, this importance only lasted until the late 19th century when Timbuktu was occupied by the French. From the Kasbah Essaouiras you can enjoy a great view over the bay. Then stroll through the medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site), which is different from other medinas in Morocco. It is laid out at right angles and is therefore unique. You can spend the rest of the day as you wish. Watch at the harbor how ships are traditionally made from wood or how fishermen mend their nets and seagulls circle in the sea breeze.

Today you will continue your journey towards Marrakech. Look forward to this fascinating city that has so much to offer. Find your way through the winding alleyways of the medina until you reach the world-famous and spacious main square Djemaa-el-Fna, which is also known as the “jugglers’ square” and should not be missed on any visit to Marrakech. Numerous artists perform here every evening. The artists range from musicians and snake charmers to storytellers. Enjoy a wonderful view of the hustle and bustle on the jugglers’ square from one of the many cafés’ terraces. Or enjoy the typical Moroccan food from the cookshops. (F)
