From the ochre-colored city of Marrakech over the natural bridge of the Imi n-ifri, we reach the valley of sheep and goat herds Ait Bou oulli, over the 4000m Mgoun in the Central High Atlas, further into the happy valley Ait Bouguemez, we hike through valleys, gorges and Berber villages of mud houses. The pink-colored landscapes, terraced fields, the vastness, high mountains, the tranquility and the way of life, the warmth and culture of the Berbers in the Atlas Mountains make this hike an unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrival to Marrakech

Your trip begins with a flight to Morocco. On arrival at Marrakech airport, your tour guide will give you a warm welcome and accompany you to your accommodation. Use the rest of the day to relax or explore the city on your own.

Day 2: Marrakech tour

The city tour of Marrakech is certainly one of the highlights of your stay in Marrakech. A local German-speaking guide is available for this purpose. Marrakech has numerous important cultural monuments, such as the Koutoubia Mosque, the Bahia Palace and the enchanting Saadian tombs. The special attraction lies in the colorful life in the souks and on the famous square “Djemaa El Fnaa”, where acrobats, storytellers, snake charmers and musicians meet. This city tour will end at noon and you will say goodbye to your tour guide.

Day 3-8: 6 days hike

The next 6 days you will hike in the company of the Berbers from the Central High Atlas. You will meet your accompanying team in the Roughelt valley and hike through fertile valleys of wheat, barley and alfalfa. You climb paths that are used and maintained by the semi-nomads. From the high passes you will enjoy the view of picturesque valleys, breathtaking panoramas and small coquettish villages here and there: you will encounter countless landscapes and natural beauties.

On the way to the base camp Tarkdite at 2900m, you will see nomads with their sheep and herds of goats.

This beautiful hike ends in the Ait Bouguemez valley, also known as the “Glücke Valley”, where everything grows: fruit, barley, wheat, walnuts and corn. A delicious lunch awaits you with a Berber family before you return to Marrakech. Over a fresh mint tea, you will learn a lot about the life of the locals in the Happy Valley of Ait Bouguemez from your guide.

Da 9: Ait Bouguemez – Marrakech

You leave the Happy Valley and drive back to Marrakech via Azilal. Overnight stay in a riad with breakfast.

Travel time: 5 hours

Day 10: Departure

Three hours before your departure time, your transfer to Marrakech airport will be waiting for you at the riad. At this point we say goodbye to you and say “Beslama”, see you next time in Morocco.
